Built by Anna & John Howland, this three-story stone building's architecture
was influenced by the Empire or Queen Anne design style. The first two
stories are sheathed in rock-faced stone veneer with a corbelled belt course
dividing stories and a fluted cornice above the second story. The projecting
bay off the rear west wall and the two-story projecting polygonal turret
with a tent roof at the building's northwest corner make this structure a
magnificent sight at the eastern gateway to the Lorain Station Historic
District. The third story mansard roof with triangular pedimented window
heads over shallow dormered, double hung windows is topped by metal curbs
along the mansard roof's ridge.
A 5-cent theatre was once located at the property's southwest corner.
