Cudell Improvement, Inc. purchased this magnificent structure in 2001, with the goal of restoring
its grandeur and preserving its beauty for future generations.
The building was built for the Southwestern Savings & Loan with professional
offices on the second floor. When Southwestern Savings & Loan moved further
west on Lorain Avenue, the first and second floors were used for a number of
inappropriate commercial endeavors.
The building features two, one-story-tall Ionic columns on each side of the
recessed center entrance. The lobby is mahogany with marble bulkheads.
There are decorative frieze panels above the columns. The frieze panels
feature rosettes and garlands. Alternating large and small rosettes stand
atop the cornice and span the distance from the outer ends of the columns.
Eight evenly spaced, double-hung windows cross the second story façade of the
building.
