LORAIN AVENUE HISTORIC DISTRICT (CLC, NR)*
This district's buildings and institutions reflect the area's cultural
history, from German and Irish immigrants of the mid-nineteenth century
to the Hungarian and more recent Hispanic populations who have settled
here. Buildings date from about 1865 to 1930 and feature some of the city's
finest Italianate and other late-19th century commercial styles. Designated
as a Cleveland Landmark district and placed on the National Register of
Historic Places in 1994.
